$200 TO PURCHASE, size 40” by 40” Free pattern here, you can use this pattern for your own pleasure but if you want to sell this object, please give me design credit.
Blue heart Quilt pattern: Of course I save all my scraps and sort them, by colour in these clear plastic lettuce boxes. Periodically I rummage through them and indulge my desire for one colour or monochromatic schemes like this simple quilt.
Materials: about 3 yards assorted fabrics, mostly blues, thread, ribbon, embroidery thread (cotton), about 2 1\2 yards vintage lace, quilting thread, quilt batt
Instructions: 1\4 ‘ seam allowance is included here. The finished quilt is about 40” by 40” You could easily adapt it to a larger size—or put two hearts on a double or queen size.
1. Of striped material cut 4 squares, each 20” by 20” Piece them together, reversing the direction of the stripe to make a larger square, 39” by 39”. Cut a 3” strip of the same material and sew it around all 4 edges to make a square 42” by 42”. This is the top of your quilt.
2. For the back, cut or piece other fabric to the same size.
3. For the heart, cut all your bits in strips of various widths. Sew them together to make a square 28” by 28”. Out of this, cut l big heart. Add ribbon and embroidery to it. X,\,/. Marks and French knots are used here. Baste a 1\4” hem around the heart. Pin it onto the quilt top.
4. Using your sewing machine, Zig Zag stitch around the edge of the heart. Handsew the vintage lace over the zigzag stitching and add more embroidery.
5. Draw on your quilting pattern
NOTE; I don’t use a quilt frame or embroidery hoop, but make my quilts, flat on the kitchen table. So you can assemble and quilt your quilt in any way you desire.
6. This is how I assemble my quilts. It saves that day or two traditionally spent hand sewing the binding around the edges.Lay the good sides of the front and back of the quilt together. Cut out one layer of batting and pin to the underside of the quilt. With a 1\2” seam allowance, sew around the outside edges, leaving an 8” gap. Trim seams to 1\4” Reverse quilt through hole. Push out corners slightly with a pencil . Slip stitch hole closed.
7. Quilt.
